Get life structured: Track what’s important to you!

It’s March and it feels like New Year for me. Just one week ago, I dived into a beautiful way of tracking habits, inspired by Sean McCabe. It helps me to get a better overview of the aspects of life that are important to me right now. And it helps to improve them.

Although I write a journal in DayOne, sketch note daily impressions in my notebook, track my sports in the Activity App, there hasn’t been the one place for a good overview.

This changed with this simple layout:

The last week of February served as a test run. I was able to fill the workouts from my DayOne diary and the Activity App. Drawing got much nicer in March (see at the end of the post)!

After my first week in, I’m enormously excited about it and can only encourage you to try it for yourself. You can try it this or any other way. Just start the journey!

Skydiving Season 2017 started

Winter always seams too long. For now it’s over and I did enjoy three jumps with Kevin in Calw. Every time again, it’s an amazing feeling to launch into air and have fun with freefly.

Embrace the new guy!

newguyA new colleague recently joined our team. Just yesterday, he presented his ideas on a sales topic. It took me some time to get into this one slide he showed. My first thought was “i don’t fully get it, explain it to me better” followed by “why is this so strange!?”.

Being in a rush, I noticed my impatience. Until I figured out what was happening: Martin didn’t take the beaten path we use to go in our team, he didn’t use the vocabulary we were used to in our team, he didn’t use the common layout to show his ideas.

No, he did it his own way. What was feeling strange in the first seconds, made me smile directly after. He approached the topic from a different angle, structured it differently and brought in new perspectives.

We discussed quite a while and I really enjoyed it. I learned.

So when you come across something new, try to be open. Don’t judge it too quickly. You might miss a great opportunity. Take the chance to discover unknown facettes of something you already think you know quite well.

Solar energy and reuse – a Child’s Play?

This morning I had an astonishing conversation with my 4-year-old son. The child’s logic revealed again that ecological principles actually are too easy to understand.

It all started with a youtube video of the recent hyperloop pod competition. The Tunnel video itself wasn’t self-explaining, so I described it as “a new version of the subway. Much faster, so people don’t need to take the plane to travel long distances between cities. Just imagine, Continue reading “Solar energy and reuse – a Child’s Play?”

Starting a themed week

My themed week (version 1)

Switching context slows me down. Inability to find a meeting with 3+ colleagues within 2 upcoming days tires me. Now it’s time to make an attempt to change that: I’m picking up the idea of a “themed week”.

That means I put my most prominent recurring activities into a weekly framework. Every day will be dedicated to a specific topic and activities centered around that. What does that look like for me?
